Home Staging and Redesign

Picture perfect - an Oakland loft I staged for sale. |

We packed 20 boxes of books and accessories from this bookcase. |
Perhaps I shouldn’t
share this, but one couple actually changed their
minds about selling their house after I came in and
staged it for the sale. They discovered they
didn’t
need a bigger house after all; they just needed to make
better use of the one they had. Fortunately,
their realtor still laughs about this!
Most Realtors will tell you that homes sell faster and
for more money when they are organized and staged. Staging
is about seeing a house through a buyer’s eyes and
creating a neutral palate that is inviting and flattering
to the house.
My specialty is taking
the existing furnishings, sometimes adding a few
of my own accessories, and making your home attractive,
comfortable and appealing to buyers.
And yes, you can use the principles of "staging" to
arrange and freshen your home. Many
people ask me to redesign their house because they want
the look and feel of living in a “de-cluttered” home.
In many cases it’s hard to do this for yourself because
you are emotionally attached or conditioned to your home
the way it is. I bring an objective pair of eyes to help
you edit and rearrange. We will work to give you a home
that is comfortable, functional and improves the quality
of your home life.
“Our realtor recommended
Gayle stage and organize our home when we decided to
sell. Staging wasn’t
something we were familiar with, but it sure made a difference
in the way people saw our house and we were thrilled
when we received not only compliments, but great offers!

How Gayle Works
If you are selling your home, I will meet with
you and your Realtor to discuss the staging process. Sometimes
staging is combined with sorting and packing, and sometimes
it is a stand-alone process. If we all agree that staging
your home with your own furniture and accessories will
give you the results you are looking for, then we will
book the appropriate time to get started. And the good news
is that hiring an organizer/stager to prepare your home
is a tax-deductible expense. (Be sure to check with you
accountant for the proper way to record your deductions.)
If you would like your current home “redesigned”, I will consult with you and do a walk-through to discuss
the process. Using your existing furniture and accessories
we can “freshen” the look of each room. If
you choose, I will also make suggestions about possible
furniture and accessory additions you might consider to
enhance the use of each space.
This is my own condo living room. Just
by swapping out pillow covers, a throw, table runner, flowers,
and candles, I can completely change my house to suit the
seasons. Notice that my original artwork gives this space
it's real character.
